Possibilities We want every young person to realise their potential at Exceed. We place emphasis on helping young people to recognise that with the right support, understanding and approach to learning, possibilities in life are endless and accessible for everyone.
Possibilities, Opportunities, Yourself

Welcome to Exceed!

Opportunities We intend to provide every young person with a range of opportunities that enhance their interests and promote success. We provide opportunities for young people to talk and share their experiences in a therapeutic environment where they feel listened to without judgement, they feel accepted and safe.
Yourself Exceed is about fun, positive experiences, acceptance, and empowerment. We are dedicated to ensuring the needs of every young person is at the centre of everything we do. We focus on individual strengths and build upon these by helping young people to explore new experiences, take risks and discover unfound talents and interests.

About Us
Exceed is an alternative provision and is part of Calcot Services for Children. Situated in a beautiful woodland area we were initially set up to provide part-time short-stay alternative provision for young people from our homes who have been excluded from or are not in mainstream education. We continue to provide this support but have extended our provision to offer therapeutic outdoor leaning experiences for the young people in our schools.

Many of the young people attending Exceed have had adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and present with behavioural and/or social and emotional barriers and are often disengaged with their education. Some young people may have additional learning needs and at times will have an Educational Health Care Plan in place which strongly informs our practice.
Our Key Aim
‘To inspire every young person who attends Exceed to establish positive and trusting relationships. To develop life skills, emotional competencies and the resilience necessary to fulfil their true potential and engage positively in their education with a transformed approach and attitude to learning.’
We provide personalised and therapeutic learning packages that are relevant to each young person, building on their individual strengths, that inspires them to want to learn more and encourages them to become lifelong learners. This is especially important for some of our high need young people who often have unidentified needs relating to anxiety, attachment and mental health challenges which have either not yet been identified, assessed or diagnosed.
We recognise that developing self-esteem, confidence, resilience and being able to make good choices are major goals in preparing young people for life either back into full time education or their next steps into adulthood, and this is a crucial part of our work. We are committed to helping every young person to achieve these skills by pursuing the intents of our vision.
